The Chef

The chef

A unique identity

Bert de Rycker is one of the rising stars of the Valais gastronomic scene. Those in the know will already be familiar with this forty-year-old from Antwerp, who has been honoured in the 2019 GaultMillau guide. This is well-deserved recognition for the talented chef, who has been working in Valais for 11 years, and whose cuisine is devilishly creative, focusing on excellent quality products and precise flavours.

Bert de Rycker

A culinary heritage

A passion for cuisine has definitely got under his skin, to the point that he has vegetables tattooed on his arms. He has also had an amazing career so far. His passion for cuisine began when he was a child in Belgium with grandparents who were active in the fish trade. This brought him into contact with the greatest chefs. The air of mystery that surrounds this world attracted him and led him to attend hospitality school at the age of just 12. Next, he worked in the kitchens of Lenôtre and the Tour d'Argent in Paris, then with Thierry Marx in Bordeaux and at the Kerselaar in Antwerp.

Valais

The place that inspires him

But Valais is where he chose to build his career further. He was in love with the canton where he spent holidays with his family as a child. Before he took over management of Le Bistrot and 3023 for Téléverbier in 2022, gourmets could enjoy his food at the Panorama in Mollens, the Café Cher-Mignon in Chermignon, the Rhodania in Crans-Montana and the Rawyl in Randogne.
